I went a little overboard, I think, and bought more seeds than I could possibly grow. However, I hope to transplant some of my plantlings to friends’ garden once they have sprouted in their indoor planters. Here’s a list of the seeds I bought:

Scarlet Nantes Carrot
Chioggia Beet
Seed Savers Lettuce Mixture
Dwarf Blue Curled Scotch Kale
Amish Snap Pea
Red Habanero Pepper
Thai Hot Pepper
Blue Podded Pea
Amish Paste Tomato
Japanese Trifele Black Tomato
Large Red Cherry Tomato
Purple Russian Tomato
Red Zebra Tomato
Cilantro
Catnip
Thai Basil
Genovese Basil
Rosemary
Giant from Italy Parsley
Sensitive Plant

Stay tuned for more updates as I get these seeds planted. Some need to be planted now, while others such as the peppers and herbs still need warmer weather. As well, the carrots and the beets will require the deeper soil to be provided by the new garden bed, yet to be constructed.

Spec plans for the garden bed will be posted soon.

Welcome to FireEscape Garden, our little oasis in urban Williamsburg. This site will feature updates to our garden featuring organic and hard-to-find heirloom varietals. We will keep you apprised of our progress from planting through harvest and consumption, and feature recipes using harvested edibles from the garden as well as items found locally in our neighborhood. You should expect these recipes to include food items that you might not be able to find on store shelves, but these ingredients can undoubtedly be substituted with more readily available items.

Stick with us throughout the remaining spring and summer as we bring to life plants and flowers you may not have ever seen before!

Thanks,
